Jessie Baylin - "Leave Your Mark"

Many moons ago, I discovered my buddy Jessie Baylin, her unique voice and her sweet disposition. I even was fortunate enough to make a few pieces of jewelry for her based on lyrics from her songs somewhere towards the beginning of this jewelry journey I've been on. Really gorgeous words, so beautifully written. She has a little bit of a jazzed up Stevie Nicks feel that I find SO refreshing. Anyway, I've been listening to her a lot lately when I'm looking for chill inspiration music to have going whilst working on new designs etc, so I thought I'd share her with you :) It really bothers me that more people don't know who she is, because she really deserves a lot more respect and attention than she gets. I realize that music is just as much of a rat race as the fashion design world, but alas, I will help her fight against the droves of singer/songwriters running alongside her, one dinky blog post at a time :) It's the least I can do, right? :)

Big News for Jes Hudak and 'Another Day'

Remember when I told you about my bud Jes Hudak and her musical stylings? The amazing singer/songwriter who is from the same little town I am? Well, a couple days ago she got some HUGE news. News that could very well be that boost that launches her into uncharted territory with her career...

What is it you ask? Well, Jes is being featured on a little old thing called AOL! Hey video was chosen to be their "Video Of The Day" for January 17th! Amazing! You know what, she can explain it all a lot better than I can, so watch this!



Isn't that not the MOST amazing news an artist can get? She's so excited, it's just so endearing! I've had a number of friends try to break into the music industry and know just how difficult and frustrating it can be. But, THIS is the oppertunity of a lifetime for Jes! I'm really pulling for her and hoping that this exposure is what she needs to get the ball rolling in the direction she wants it to! So with that said I'd really love to show you ONE more video. Jes was asked to write a song to go along with an independent film...the song is called 'Another Day' and it is amazing as usual, but the video that goes with it is pretty intense. Be forewarned, I got a little teary, not gonna lie...

Music to my Ears: Meet Jes Hudak

As you may or may not know, I was born and raised in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY. A charming historic city about 30mins north of Albany that provides lots of natural beauty, character and artistic energy for it's resident's and tourist's alike. You can't find many places like Saratoga, so I feel blessed to live out my life here.

Aside from it's general charm, it's history and it's beauty, Saratoga can also boast a number of very talented artists who have called Saratoga, "home". One of them being, Jes Hudak. A incredibly gifted up and coming singer/songwriter with a big voice and nimble fingers who now resides in Los Angeles, California. Jes and I attended the same high school, and while I never knew her personally (as she was a couple years older than me), I recently come across her music and felt so proud to know that another one of us "Saratogians" were making big moves and headed to the top. Who doesn't like rooting for their home team? Plus, I am all about music and grass roots singer/songwriters, so anything I can do to shine a little light on someone I really believe in, totally makes my day!

Anyway, I don't want this post to turn into a regurgitated Jes Hudak bio, rather, I think you should take a listen to her AMAZING, and I really do mean AMAZING voice and talent. When I found this video I pretty much watched it with my jaw on the floor. SUCH killer pipes!
