Back In The Day....

"If you carry your childhood with you, you never become older."
~ Tom Stoppard
When I was a kid, I was awesome. Actually, I'm hoping that description is still applicable now as well. I kinda looked like a boy, but thats ok, I feel it just added to my effervescent charm and general overall coolness.

I collected rocks and sold them at garage sales, I hated wearing jeans, I tried to drink the juice out of solid fruit with a straw, I LOVED Macaroni and Cheese, I rode around on a Big Wheels and gathered a treasure trove of items to store underneath the cool flip open seat, I was a hairdresser, my favorite show was Sharon, Lois and Bram, and I loved listening to Bon Jovi and Guns N' Roses. I even fought crime with the Lebanon, New Hampshire Police! I was a busy kid, a funny kid, and a generally weird kid. Luckily, not much has changed, at least with the "weird" description.

I came across a couple pictures of me when I was about 4 or 5 and decided they were so excellent that i had to share them with you! I wonder if the tiny "me" in these pictures had any inkling that one day I'd be playing with fire and metal as my job? Or that my life would be almost completely controlled by a silly website called Etsy?

Life was a lot simpler when all I had to do was fight crime, make fresh orange juice and collect rocks to pay the rent :)

Autumn Photoshoot: Meet The Poiriers

This past weekend, I spent some time shooting family portraits for my lovely neighbors, The Poiriers, all around Saratoga Springs. We had a lot of fun and I'm really happy with the images that came out of the session!

It was FREEZING and pretty blustery but we managed! Mama Poirier was a trooper despite her belly full o' baby! I've never seen such a super pregnant woman move around so easily! She will be welcoming baby #2 on October 30th, so we got these pictures just in time. I can't wait to take some newborn shots for them when the little chicken nugget arrives!

Mama and Papa Poiriers little girl, Emma, has such a magnetic smile! She wasn't so into the whole picture thing for the most part, but who could blame her when there are so many more interesting things for a 2 yr old to do! Luckily, we got some giggles and smiles out of her and I managed to capture some on film!

Anyway, on to the pictures! Enjoy!

Meet My Baby: Vemelope Sweetie Pie Lover Lamb Chop aka "Mel"

I'm back! Forgive my tardiness, I was always late for homeroom in high school and looks like nothing has changed now that I'm blogging. Sometimes I just plum forget!

Anyway, Meet my pride and joy, my very first baby girl, Vemelope Sweetie Pie Lover Lamb Chop, or "Mel" for short :) Although her name is quite long, it is actually much longer in reality, but this is her "official" name. We've also added Melvin, Melito and Drumstick to her name unofficially.

Mel is a little ball of personality in the form of a Dapple Miniature Dachshund. She is a cuddle bug, a comedian, a champion ball chaser, and clumsy chipmunk chaser. Mel was my very first baby, I got her just a couple weeks after Christmas, January 8th 2007 to be exact! It was love at first sight, and my entire family quickly became just a smitten with Mel as I was. In fact, we often argued over who was going to cuddle with her, or nap with her. Mel is the perfect napping buddy, even my teenage brothers couldnt resist Mel's cuddle charm!

Aside from being the cutest thing EVER, Mel has quite the personality. She quite enjoys kisses on the cheek and presses her face up to your mouth to kiss her repeatedly. If you decide you've had enough, she will tell you otherwise and shove her face on to your mouth again. There's only one thing in the world that Mel loves more than kisses, and that is belly rubs. She pretty much dives at your feet and rolls over anytime she meets someone new.

Mel also LOVES eating apples! But she eats them like a human, she holds them in her tiny paws and eats a whole apple all the way around the core. Now when I go Apple picking in the Fall, I make sure to get lots of tiny "Mel-sized" Apples. Mel also can be a bit of a diva, in fact she HATES wearing any sort of clothing. She gets really depressed and embaressed and hides or lays her head on your shoulder and pouts until you take it off.

So, I hope you enjoy a few of these snapshots of my pride and joy, as I have to scurry off and take my little Melvin for a walk as she's been patiently waiting at the door, with leash in mouth, waiting for her morning walk. Toodles!

Summer Snapshot of the Day

Here's a quick shot I snapped of Lucie, after a long day at the beach at our summer home in Lake George. She's a tired little chicken nugget but she's too cute to resist photographing! I love the candid feel and complete innocence of this image! Maybe in 20 years, she'll be able to appreciate all the photos I take of her and forgive me for always invading her personal space. I'm sure there will be more shots of my little buddy throughout the summer because were pretty much together 24/7, despite the fact that I'm not her mother...Enjoy!

Summer Snapshot of the Day

Is there a better combination than kids and dogs? This shot is of my little bud, Tommy, sitting on his mom's pregnant belly and playing with my puppy Mel, a little miniature dapple dachshund. You will meet Mel in a later post :) I'm thinking maybe I need to send this shot into Pirate Booty and see what sort of yummy swag we can wrangle :) Pirate Booty really is yummy, the Caramel is my personal favorite!
